New record for the Matina River basin; previous records of the species in Costa Rican freshwaters were restricted to the Sixaola River basin. New elevational record (13 m. a.s.l.); previous records of the species in Costa Rican freshwaters were restricted to 40– 150 m.a.s.l. Basis of the record: Two specimens were captured in the río Estrella, Valle La Estrella, Limón (9.77552, -82.93240), at 13 m. a.s.l., on April 6, 2014, by Arturo Angulo. Additional captures have been reported northwest in the Bananito river, Limón (H. van Heusden & J. San Gil 2021, pers. Comm.).
