Simulium (Gomphostilbia) hongthaii Takaoka, Sofian-Azirun & Ya’cob, 2014c: 348–351 (Male and pupa)

Specimens examined. Five males, collected from a small waterfall (width 20 cm, depth 5–7 cm, water temperature 19.0˚C, partially shaded, altitude 432 m, 16˚13’56.211” N/107˚51’18.671” E), Bach Ma National Park, Phu Loc, Thua Thien Hue Province, central Vietnam, 23-II-2014, by H. Takaoka, M. Sofian-Azirun, Z. Ya’cob, C.D. Chen & K.W. Lau; one male, collected from a small stream (width 4–6 m, water temperature 18.0˚C, exposed to the sun, altitude 1,452 m, 12˚10’56.408” N/108˚40’48.152” E), moderately flowing in open land, Long Lanh, Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province, southern Vietnam, 24-IV-2014, by H. Takaoka, M. Sofian-Azirun, Z. Ya’cob, C.D. Chen & K.W. Lau.

Distribution. Vietnam.

Remarks. This species was described from males and pupae collected from Tam Dao National Park, northern Vietnam (Takaoka et al. 2014c). The male of this species is characterized by the upper-eye facets in 16 vertical columns and 16 horizontal rows (Takaoka et al. 2014c).
