Genus Niphetophora Kraatz, 1833

The genus has persistently been placed in the Diplognathini . However, Holm & Marais (1988) excluded it from this tribe, saying that it is a typical Cetoniini . Antoine & Holm (1993) revised the genus, recognising five species. Five other species were recently added (see Di Gennaro 2014a and Beinhundner 2017a). There is one species recorded from Angola (Antoine & Holm 1993).
