Type Material: Holotype: male from Praia do Rosa, Imbituba [28°13' S; 48°40' W], Santa Catarina, Brazil, 8–15 February 1998, A.B. Bonaldo, deposited in MCN 28994.

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition that refers to the type locality.
Diagnosis. Scytodes imbituba n.sp. is distinguished from the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the serrated, dorsally pointed sclerotized process in the male palp (Figs. 148, 150) and by the sinuous, sclerotized, lateral margins of the single hyaline pocket in the female epigynum (Fig. 152).
Description. Male (Holotype, MCN 28994). Carapace orange with brown pattern as shown on Fig. 147. Chelicerae yellow with dorsal, longitudinal brown stripe. Pedipalps yellow. Palpal tibiae with prolateral brown stain. Labium and endites pale yellow, slightly darker at base. Sternum cream coloured with triangular brown stains in front of each coxae. Legs yellow, except patella I brown. Tibiae I-IV with dark brown distal ends. Abdomen gray with black pattern (Fig. 147). Total length 3.1. Carapace slightly domed, 1.6 long, 1.4 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.10, ALE 0.12, PLE 0.12. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.14 long, 0.20 wide. Sternum 0.90 long, 0.74 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 3.8, patella 0.5, tibia 4.1, metatarsus 5.0, tarsus 0.7, total 14.1; II: 2.7, 0.5, 2.8, 3.1, 0.6, 9.7; III: 1.7, 0.5, 1.5, 1.9, 0.5, 6.1; IV: 2.8, 0.5, 2.3, 2.7, 0.6, 8.9. Palpal femur with stridulatory pick short and stout on triangular and projected socket. Cymbium with pair of strong distal spines (Fig. 148). Bulb 0.60 long, medially constricted. Distal region with prolateral, concave region (Fig. 148), retrolateral slightly conical projection and dorsally pointed sclerotized process (Fig. 149–150). Abdomen 1.5 long, 1.2 wide, covered with slender hairs.
Female (Paratype, MCN 28994). Coloration pattern as in male. Total length 4.2. Carapace domed, 2.1 long, 1.9 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.12, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae as in male. Labium 0.16 long, 0.24 wide. Sternum 1.12 long, 0.90 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 2.9, patella 0.5, tibia 3.1, metatarsus 3.5, tarsus 0.6, total 10.6; II: 2.1, 0.5, 2.2, 2.6, 0.6, 8.0; III: 1.6, 0.5, 1.2, 1.6, 0.5, 5.4; IV: 2.3, 0.5, 2.1, 2.2, 0.6, 7.7. Palpal femur as in male. Epigynum with triangular, slightly curved positioning ridges, separated from each other by their width (Fig. 151). Vulva with large, irregular, spermathecae, on short and very slender stalk, anterior to single large hyaline pocket with sinuous, sclerotized, lateral areas (Fig. 152). Abdomen 2.1 long, 1.9 wide, as in male.
Variation. Two males: femur I 3.6–3.8; bulb 0.56–0.60.
Distribution. Atlantic Forest. Known from the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina.
