Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition that refers to the type locality of the holotype.
Diagnosis. The males of Scytodes antonina n.sp. are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the palp with a dorsal, oblique hyaline membrane (Figs. 101–102) and a retrolateral, long, sclerotized process (Figs. 102–103). The females are distinguished by a single, very large and rounded hyaline pocket with lateral, oval, sclerotized areas (Fig. 105).
Description. Male (Holotype, IBSP 116695). Carapace pale orange with brown pattern as shown on Fig. 100. Chelicerae pale orange with dorsal, longitudinal brown stripe. Pedipalps pale orange. Labium and endites pale yellow. Sternum cream colored with faint brown markings in front of each coxae. Legs yellow. Femur I- IV with ventral pair of longitudinal black stripes. Tibia I-IV with black extremities. Abdomen gray with black pattern (Fig. 100). Total length 3.5. Carapace slightly domed, 1.7 long, 1.5 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.16, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.10 long, 0.20 wide. Sternum 0.92 long, 0.74 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 3.6, patella 0.6, tibia 3.9, metatarsus 4.7, tarsus 0.5, total 13.3; II: 2.6, 0.5, 2.5, 3.0, 0.5, 9.1; III: 1.7, 0.4, 1.4, 1.7, 0.4, 5.6; IV: 2.4, 0.5, 2.2, 2.5, 0.6, 8.2. Palpal femur with stridulatory pick long and slender on rounded and projected socket. Cymbium with single, short distal spine (Fig. 102). Bulb 0.70 long, medially constricted and slightly sinuous. Distal area with a dorsal, oblique hyaline membrane (Figs 101–102) and longer retrolateral sclerotized process (Figs. 102–103). Abdomen 1.7 long, 1.4 wide, covered with slender hairs.
Female (Paratype, IBSP 92321) Coloration pattern as in male. Total length 4.7. Carapace domed, 2.1 long, 1.9 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae as in male. Labium 0.16 long, 0.28 wide. Sternum 1.04 long, 0.86 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 2.7, patella 0.5, tibia 2.8, metatarsus 3.1, tarsus 0.6, total 9.7; II: 2.1, 0.5, 2.2, 2.6, 0.6, 8.0; III: 1.6, 0.5, 1.3, 1.6, 0.4, 5.4; IV: 2.2, 0.5, 2.0, 2.2, 0.6, 7.5. Palpal femur as in male. Abdomen 2.6 long, 2.4 wide, covered with slender hairs. Epigynum with slightly triangular epigynal pouch and narrow positioning ridges with slightly triangular foveas separated from each other by 3–4 times their width (Fig. 104). Vulva with single, large, hyaline pocket with lateral, oval sclerotized areas and adjacent round spermathecae (Fig. 105).
Variation. Three males: total length 3.2–3.5; femur I 3.5–3.6; bulb 0.70–0.72. Ten females: total length 3.9–5.2; carapace 1.8–2.2; femur I 2.0–2.8.
Distribution. Atlantic Forest. Eastern states of São Paulo and Paraná.
