Comment. Coiffait (1966a) based the original description of X. lederi on a single holotype male from the Caucasus, without specification of the locality. An examination of the aedeagus revealed that it is conspecific with X. crassicornis; hence the synonymy proposed above.
In the original description of Xantholinus martensi, which is based on a male holotype and two female paratypes, Bordoni (1983) assigns the species to the subgenus Calolinus, without reference to X. crassicornis . A comparison of the holotype of X. martensi with material of X. crassicornis yielded no significant differences or other evidence that the former should represent a distinct species, so that X. martensi is here placed in the synonymy of X. crassicornis .
The previously known distribution was confined to Georgia, the Russian South European territory, and northeastern Turkey (Herman 2001, Korge 1973, Smetana 2004). The species is here recorded from Azerbaijan for the first time.
