Species Brachytrupes vastator (Burmeister, 1838) stat. rev. (Table 2)
Gryllus vastator Burmeister, 1838: p. 735
The description of this species is very short and poor (“fulvus, supra obscurior; fronte refusa, supra antennas tiispinosa, spinulis lateralibus ocelliferis. Long, corp.1 1/2” = yellow, darker above; front blunt, above antennae trispinous, lateral spines ocelliferous. Body length 38 mm). The type seems to be lost. Without additional material from the type locality, Sierra Leone, the species cannot be included in the key nor determined if any of the later described medium-sized species have to be synonymized.
Distribution: Sierra Leone.
