Type Locality: Chile, Curico Prov., Rio Teno.
Vernacular Names: Bridges's Degu.
Distribution: Chilean Andes from 34 o 15’ to at least 40 o S (Redford and Eisenberg, 1992).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Once common, but now quite rare (Redford and Eisenberg, 1992).
Discussion: Massoia (1979:36) reported Octodon, perhaps bridgesi, from S Argentina. Karyotype has 2n=58 and FN=112 (Gallardo, 1992).
