Synonyms: Octodontomys simonsi Thomas 1902 .
Distribution: Andes of N Chile, SW Bolivia, and NW Argentina; occurs between 2,000 and 5,000 m in xeric habitats.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Common.
Discussion: Karyotype has 2n=38 and FN=64 (Gallardo, 1992; George and Weir, 1972 a).
