Type Locality: Chile, Valparaiso Prov., Olmue.

Vernacular Names: Moon-toothed Degu.

Distribution: Coastal mountains of Valparaiso, Aconcagua, and Coquimbo Provs. (Chile) between 31 o 30’ and 35 o S.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Common.

Discussion: Included in Octodon bridgesi by Tamayo and Frassinetti (1980:354). Karyotype has 2n=78 (Spotorno et al., 1988).
