Description. Length 4.0– 4.7 mm, width 1.6–2.8 mm. General color yellow, with one pair of black spots on vertex (Fig. 9 C); some individuals with vertex totally black (Fig. 9 D); some females with black or blackish brown elytra (Fig. 9 E). First antennomere swollen in male (Fig. 11 A), length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.4: 0.6: 0.6: 0.7: 0.7: 0.7: 0.7: 0.7: 0.6: 0.8, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 2.5: 1.7: 2.5: 3.3: 3.6: 3.5: 3.6: 3.6: 3.6: 3.3: 4.3; first antennomere more slender in female (Fig. 11 B), length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.4: 0.7: 0.7: 0.7: 0.7: 0.8: 0.8: 0.7: 0.7: 0.9, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 3.9: 2.0: 3.5: 3.6: 3.8: 3.7: 3.9: 3.9: 3.7: 3.7: 4.6. Elytra 1.9 x longer than wide, surface with erect, yellowish brown, dense, elongate setae; and fine punctures. Apical margin of last abdominal ventrites with two shallow incisions in males (Fig. 11 G); medially depressed in females (Fig. 11 H). Penis (Figs 11 C–11D) slender, gradually narrowed towards apex; apex of dorsal surface with deep notch; apex of ventral surface slightly medially depressed; almost straight in lateral view, apex with deep notch between dorsal and ventral surface; ventral surface smooth. Internal sac covered with dense short setae; median endophallic spiculae long, about 0.5 x as long as penis, apex trilobed, median lobe medially swollen, with dense lateral setae subapically, lateral lobes slender; one pair of dorsal spiculae at middle, anteriorly extending near apex of median spiculae; three pairs of basal spiculae horn-like, basal pair longest, other pairs shortened; one pair of ventral speculae straight, located from base to midpoint. Gonocoxae (Fig. 11 E) extremely slender, 8.2 x longer than wide, briefly contiguous at middle, sides narrowed at apical 1/10; apices narrowly rounded; inner margins approximate from apex to midpoint, apex with nine setae; slender from midpoint to base but abruptly widened at base. Ventrite VIII (Fig. 11 F) well sclerotized; spiculum elongate; apex square, apical margin truncate, with dense short setae; disc with several elongate setae at sides. Receptacle of spermatheca (Fig. 11 I) strongly swollen, distinctly separated from pump; pump strongly curved, apically tapering; proximal spermathecal duct slender, distinctly narrower than receptacle, basally widened, shallowly projecting into receptaculum.
Differential diagnosis. Doryscus nepalensis sp. nov. adults can be separated from those of D. niger based on the following combination of characters: strongly swollen antennomere I in male, relatively slender antenna, and yellow pronotum.
Etymology. This new species is named for its type locality.
Remarks. Specimens identified as Doryscus testaceus by Kimoto and Takizwa are deposited at the SEHU and available for study. They are attributed to this new species.
Distribution. Bhutan, India, Nepal.
