Diagnosis. This species can be recognised by the coloration of the carapace, with a pair of submarginal pale bands and radial black bands (Fig. 6), by having only two teeth on the chelicerae retromargins, and by the absence of a basal prominence at the base of the median apophysis in the male palp (Figs 7–8).

Description. Male (Junin, Yauli, MHNSM). Carapace dark brown, with a median band, a pair of submarginal pale bands, and four pairs of radial black bands (Fig. 6). Chelicerae yellowish with a median longitudinal black line. Sternum, labium, and endites dark brown. Coxae light brown. Legs yellowish, with brownish rings on dorsal surface of femora. Abdomen: dorsum brownish-yellow, with a dark fusiform heart mark outlined by a black line and flanked by a lateral pale band (Fig. 6); venter and spinnerets yellowish. Chelicerae: promargin with three teeth, the median one larger than the laterals, the basal one strongly reduced; retromargin with two large and equally sized teeth. Total length 6.20. Carapace length 3.28, width 2.30. Eyes: anterior row slightly procurved; diameters: AME 0.16; ALE 0.12; PME 0.28; PLE 0.23; interdistances: AME–AME 0.05; AME–ALE 0.04; PME–PME 0.19; PME–PLE 0.27; PLE–PLE 0.57. Palp: tibia about twice as long as wide; cymbium about twice as long as wide, with about six apical spines (Fig. 7); ventral spur of median apophysis straight and slightly elongated in retrolateral view; terminal apophysis membranous, laminar; subterminal apophysis membranous, short, and curved dorsally (Fig. 8).

Female (Junin, Yauli, MHNSM): Coloration as male, except chelicerae reddish-brown, abdomen with fusiform heart mark, with posterior border longer and narrower than the anterior one, and not accompanied by lateral pale bands. Cheliceral teeth as male. Total length 11.50. Carapace length 5.08, width 3.65. Eyes: anterior row as in males; diameters: AME 0.16; ALE 0.16; PME 0.37; PLE 0.29; interdistances: AME–AME 0.08; AME–ALE 0.10; PME–PME 0.31; PME–PLE 0.37; PLE–PLE 0.90. Leg measurements: femur 3.10/ patella 1.70/ tibia 2.10/ metatarsus 2.10/ tarsus 1.40/ total 10.40; II: 2.72/ 1.65/ 1.73/ 1.90/ 1.35/ 9.35; III: 2.60/ 1.25/ 1.55/ 2.00/ 1.38/ 8.78; IV: 3.68/ 1.65/ 2.48/ 3.40/ 1.70/ 12.91. Leg spination as male, except: femur I: p0-1-2, r0-1-0, II: r0-1-0; tibia I: p0-1; metatarsus II: p0-1-1. Epigynum: epiginal plate about as long as wide; longitudinal bar of median septum widened near the junction with the transverse bar (Fig. 9); transverse bar straight, with lateral ends rounded and not dilated; atrium flattened and narrower than longitudinal bar (Fig. 9); hoods small and rounded; spermathecae base wider than head; stalk short and straight; head rounded; copulatory ducts tubular and laterally curved (Fig. 10).

Variation. Three males: total length 6.00–6.60; carapace length 3.28–3.70; femur I length 2.20–2.55. Two females: total length 9.80–11.50; carapace length 4.45–5.08; femur I length 3.10–3.18.

Natural history. Some specimens of H. yauliensis from Ondores (Department Junin, Peru) were observed under stones, in humid areas (W. Paredes, pers. comm.).
