Patellapis (Chaetalictus) kahuziensis sp. n.

Diagnosis. The male is unknown. The female has a smooth, finely and completely shagreened basal area of the propodeum (Fig. 5 d). This character is only known from P. (Ch.) semipastina (Cockerell) of the P. pearstonensis species-group and the isolated species P. (Ch.) pastina (Cockerell) . From the former, P. (Ch.) kahuziensis differs by its elongate face (Fig. 5 b), from the latter by the finely shagreened and completely dull mesoscutum (Fig. 5 c), shiny in P. (Ch.) pastina .

Description. Female. Bl = 7.5 mm. General habitus (Fig. 5 a). Head. L = 2.2 mm; W = 1.9 mm. Head longer than wide (Fig. 5 b). Integument black including mandible. Face dull with sparse, brownish, erect hairs. Mandible with subapical tooth. Clypeus and supraclypeal area convex in profile. Clypeus moderately densely punctate with elongate punctures. Clypeus raised medially; surface dull above and shiny ventrally. Clypeoantennal distance 0.4 mm. Supraclypeal area with a few, small and superficial punctures; punctures well separated; surface dull and completely shagreened. Paraocular area densely punctate; surface dull and densely sculptured. Antenna brownish-black. Mesosoma. L = 2.9 mm; ITS = 1.7 mm. Integument black. Mesoscutum completely dull and shagreened; disc moderately finely but superficially punctate (i = 1.0–2.0d) (Fig. 5 c). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 5 d. Mesoscutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesepisternum and propodeum with whitish to brownish, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 5 d; propodeum and marginal region of posterior truncation slightly shiny and finely shagreened; propodeum without punctures. Wings. Brownish fuscous. Legs. Integument brownish-black. Vestiture whitish to greyish. Ts not visible in the only available specimen. Bp as illustrated (Fig. 5 f). Metasoma. L = 3.2 mm; W = 2.1 mm. Integument black except the margins of T slightly dark reddish-brown; T2–T4 polished with a slight oily bluish shine. No apical hair bands present. Prepygidial fimbria brownish to whitish. Metasomal terga as illustrated in Fig. 5 e.

Male. Unknown.

Type material (1 specimen). Holotype, female, Democratic Republic of the Congo, side Mt. Kahuzi, Kivu, 2200 m [S2°15´E28°40´], IX-5-1957, E.S. Ross & R.E. Leech collectors, CAS.

Etymology. This species is named after Mt. Kahuzi.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Floral visitation. Unknown.
