Rhogogaster kaszabi Zombori, 1973

A junior subjective synonym of Tenthredo (Eurogaster) aaliensis (Strand, 1898), syn. nov.

TYPES. Rhogogaster kaszabi Zombori, 1973: 449 –451. Holotype Ƥ (Fig. 23). Type locality: “ Mongolia: Chövsgöl aimak: 8 km N von Somon Burenchaan, am Fluß Delger mörön, 1450 m ”. Secondary homonym of Tenthredo kaszabi Muche, 1965 [= Tenthredo (Eurogaster) mesomela Linnaeus, 1758].

DISCUSSION. Liston et al. (2006) introduced the combination Tenthredo (Eurogaster) aaliensis (Strand, 1898) for the species formerly known as Rhogogaster (or Sciapteryx, or Tenthredo) arctica Kiaer, 1898 in Europe, or Tenthredo microps Konow, 1903 in Asia. The species seems to be variable in colouration. The holotype of R. kaszabi (Fig. 23) is a rather pale specimen and corresponds well with the pale form known as T. microps . The nominal taxa of the group ( Eurogaster Zirngiebl, 1953, or mesomela group) require a revision. Should the European forms prove not to be conspecific with the Asian ones, the Asian species is to be called microps, with kaszabi as subjective synonym.
