Hydraena (Hydraenopsis) sp. 1

(Figs. 24 a–b)

Material examined. 1 Ψ (NMW): “ PHILIPPINEN: Palawan Pr. Busuanga Is., 13 rd km WNW Coron, Balulu Falls, 24.2.1996, leg. H. Zettel (81)”.

Diagnosis. Except for shape and colour of the pronotum (about 1.6 times as wide as long, broadest at anterior 0.2; with broad dark brown transverse strip from anterior 0.35 to posterior 0.2, almost reaching lateral margins; anterior and posterior margins of pronotum distinctly paler), this female from Busuanga Island agrees with females of Hydraena palawanensis (and H. pseudopalawanensis), including the distinct characteristics of gonocoxite and tergite X (Fig. 24 a–b). It can, however, not be excluded that this single female in fact represents an unknown species closely related with H. palawanensis and H. pseudopalawanensis .
