Remarks. Previous records for Venezuela: Paraguaná Peninsula, Falcón state (D’Incao 1995) Delta Amacuro, Sucre states and Margarita Island (Lira et al. 2017). Holthuis (1980) remarked that it was very likely that Ewald’s specimens of S. stimpsoni cited for Venezuela do not belong to the true S. stimpsoni, but to S. burkenroadi, which has about the same range, but occurs less deep and predominantly on mud, mud-shell, or mud-sand bottoms. Even though S. stimpsoni has been reported to Venezuela since that for others authors (e.g. Rodríguez 1980; Severeyn & Rodríguez 2000), this species is not considered here because none of them reported the depth where the specimens were caught.
