Spongicola liosomatus Rodríguez Quintal & Goy, 2019: 394, Figs. 1–4

Material examined. 3 males, 1 female northern Blanquilla Island, 11°54’N 64°17’W, Fritjof Nansen R / V st 477, 135– 160 m depth, 2.vi.1988, bottom trawling net, inside hexactinellid sponge, (USNM 1573503 - USNM 1573504) : 1 female same data, (MMM-Crus-0300) .

Geographic & bathymetric distribution. Known only from the type locality, off northern Blanquilla Island, Venezuela, Caribbean Sea; 135–160 m depth (Rodríguez Quintal & Goy 2019).

Remarks. S. liosomatus is the first member of Spongicola sensu stricto to be found in the Atlantic Ocean.
