Geographic & bathymetric distribution. North Atlantic, subtropical and temperate waters, Gulf of Mexico, Bay of Biscay, Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea, Aegean Sea, off Madeira, Azores, Sargasso Sea, off South Africa; Southwest Indian Ocean, off South Africa; Southeast Pacific, off Chile; 30–830 m depth (Vereshchaka 2009).
