Grotea amazonensis nomen nudum

Herrera-Flórez and Penteado-Dias (2019) presented good quality descriptions and illustrations of four new species of Grotea: G. goianiense, G. manausi, G. paulista and G. surinamese . Nonetheless, both in the abstract section and in the identification key provided in the results section, instead of G. manausi the name G. amazonensis is used. According to the description, G. manausi was named after the collection locality, the city of Manaus (Amazon state). This was probably the origin of this misunderstanding: Manaus - ‘manausi’ / Amazon - ‘amazonensis’. Since the name appears without a proper description, failing to conform to Article 13 of ICZN, we consider that it should be treated as Grotea amazonensis nomen nudum.
