Diagnosis. Body elongated, length ranging from 13.2 mm to 14.6 mm. Antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates; labium attaining urosternite III. Pronotum twice wider than long; lateral half of the corial posterior margin subrectilinear; metasternum with a narrow carina sided by two grooves. Valvifers VIII as wide as long; laterotergites VIII as wide as long.
Description. Body dark brown (Fig. 39). Head wider than long; maximum head width across the mandibular plates less than half the head width across the eyes; posterior margins of the eyes forming an angle of less than 45º with the longitudinal body axis; each mandibular plate wider than clypeus, with the outer margin convex and the inner margin straight anterior to clypeus, apices acute; antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates; proportion of antennomeres: I>II<III ≅ IV<V (Fig. 40, A); labium attaining urosternite III (Fig. 39, B), without intercalary segment (Fig. 40, B); proportion of labiomeres: I<II>III>IV.
Thorax. Pronotum twice wider than long; anterior margin shallowly concave; lateral margins weakly sinuous (Fig. 40, A). Lateral half of the corial posterior margin subrectilinear, apical angle attaining half of the connexival segment VI (Fig. 39, A). Metasternum with a narrow carina sided by two grooves.
Abdomen. Medial portion of urosternites concolor and unpunctured (Fig. 40, B); inner trichobothria in line with spiracles, outer trichobothria lateral to spiracles in urosternites V and VI.
Male. Unknown.
Female. Measurements (n=13): Total length (n=12) 14.15 ± 0.47 (14.60–13.20); width of abdomen (n=12) 6.00 ± 0.14(6.10–5.70);head length1.90±0.10(2.10–1.80);width2.50±0.05(2.50–2.40);pronotum length2.60±0.11(2.70– 2.40); width5.50 ± 0.19(5.80–5.20); scutellum length5.00 ± 0.15(5.30–4.70); width3.50 ± 0.12(3.70–3.30);length of antennomeres:I (n=11)1.00± 0.04(1.00–0.90),II(n=11)0.80± 0.07(0.90–0.70), III(n=11)1.60±0.06(1.70–1.50),IV (n=9) 1.60± 0.12 (1.90–1.50),V(n=3)2.00± 0.11 (2.20–2.00);length of labiomeres:I 1.00 ±0.05 (1.00–0.90), Int.0.20 ± 0.05 (0.20–0.10), II 1.70 ± 0.07 (1.90–1.60), III (n=12) 1.50 ± 0.11 (1.70–1.20), IV (n=12) 1.10 ± 0.09 (1.20–0.90).
Genitalia. (Fig. 41). Valvifers VIII as wide as long, lateral angles broadly convex and posteriorly projected relative to the sutural angles, posterior margins convex (Fig. 41, A, vfVIII); laterotergites VIII as wide as long, posterior margins slightly convex (Fig. 41, A, laVIII); laterotergites IX with lateral margins straight, mesial margins straight over segment X and slightly concave over valvifers IX, and rounded apices not surpassing the mediotergite VIII (Fig. 41, A, laIX). Ring sclerites subtriangular in ventral view, as wide as the thickening of the vaginal intima, this rectangular (Fig. 41, B); proximal portion of ductus receptaculi coiled and more than twice longer than the vesicular area (Fig. 41, B, drp); median duct of vesicular area uniformly wide; distal portion of ductus receptaculi uniformly widened, not dilated, shorter than pars intermedialis and capsula seminalis taken together (Fig. 41, B, drd); pars intermedialis less than half the length of capsula seminalis, the latter dilated apically with three digitiform projections (Fig. 41, B, pi, cs).
Comments. Similar to Janeirona vianai and Janeirona flavipes Sampaio & Campos sp. nov. . Differs from J. vianai by the elongated body, antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates, inner margin of mandibular plates straight anterior to clypeus, and labium attaining urosternite III. Differs from J. flavipes Sampaio & Campos sp. nov. by the maximum head width across the mandibular plates less than half the head width across the eyes, antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates, inner margin of mandibular plates straight anterior to clypeus, and legs brown, not contrasting with the abdominal venter. Differs from all species in the genus by the metasternum with a narrow carina sided by two grooves.
Distribution: Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina).
