Diagnosis. Spilomena tuberculata sp. nov. differs from its congeners by the following combination of characters: mesosoma brownish yellow with few black patches; relative length to breadth of scape = 23:6; relative length to breadth of stigma = 56:17; propodeal dorsum rugose, postereo-lateral surface with transverse ridges, posteriorly with median longitudinal carina.
Description. Holotype ♀. Body length 5.6 mm; fore wing length 3.6 mm.
Colour. Head black; mandible (except apical tip brown), clypeus, antenna, pronotal lobe, tegula and legs pale yellow; mesoscutum, scutellum, metanotum and metasoma yellowish brown; propodeum brown with yellow patches laterally; mesopleuron yellow; metapleuron brown; fore wing veins and stigma light brown.
Vestiture. Scattered sparse setae on clypeus and mandible; T3–T6 each with scattered setae; ventral margin of T6 with apical suberect setae; remaining body with sparse vestiture.
Head. Clypeus shiny, with scattered setae, markedly convex (Fig. 46); interantennal tubercle prominent, acutely pointed and extending into median carina up to mid frons; mandible bidentate apically, inner mandibular tooth short and blunt; relative length to breadth of scape = 23:6; frons and vertex reticulate with dense setigerous micropunctures; inner eye margin straight; gena imbricate, impunctate.
Mesosoma. Pronotum dull, with longitudinal rugae; anterior carina of pronotal collar conspicuous and straight; mesoscutum reticulate with dense micropunctures; admedian line and parapsidal line lacking; scutellum reticulate with dense micropunctures, anterior groove of scutellum not broadened by crenulation; metanotum reticulate, longitudinally rugose laterally; mesopleuron reticulate with scattered setigerous punctures posteriorly (Fig. 48); metapleuron with irregular ridges; stigma elongate, relative length to breadth = 56:17; recurrent vein of fore wing received well within first submarginal cell; propodeal dorsum rugose (Fig. 49), lateral surface finely aciculate, with scattered transverse ridges, posterior surface with irregular transverse ridges and longitudinal carina medially.
Metasoma. T1 and T2 shiny, impunctate; T3–T6 with scattered setigerous punctures on entire surface; T6 apically with dense brush of short setae.
Male. Unknown.
Etymology. The species name is derived from a distinctively conspicuous interantennal tubercle.
Distribution. India (Karnataka).
