Type-locality. Ramal km 27, Iranduba, state of Amazonas, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Marinussaurus curupira is endemic to Brazilian Amazonia, and until now only known from the municipally of Iranduba, state of Amazonas, just west of the confluence of Solimões and Negro Rivers (Fig. 12). It is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits the leaf litter of terra firme forest (personal communication with V. Carvalho).
