Occurs widely in South America and the Caribbean (including the Lesser Antilles); polyphagous, feeding on plants belonging to 5 families; a pest of tropical fruit including banana, citrus, guava, mango, and soursop.

Collection data. Intercepted in UK (London) on Annona muricata, 15.vii.2013, leg. D. Dennis (abundant, eggs attacked by the larvae of Diadiplosis ? coccidivora (Felt) ( Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), det. Keith Harris) , and 14.iv.2014, leg. R. Waghorn .
