Argentinian distribution: Mendoza, Río Negro, Santa Cruz.
Ecology: This species was found in temporary and permanent springs, vegetated pools and ponds. It was recorded in wide altitude range (783–1161 m a.s.l.), with cold (7–12°C) and alkaline waters (pH: 7.9–9.10), with electrical conductivity values ranging from 75 to 82 μS /cm.

Remarks: Daday (1902) described this species as Herpetocypris obliqua . This species has been previously included in the Eucypridinae subfamily, however, Meisch et al. (2019) mentioned this genus in an “uncertain subfamily”.
