Type locality. Ivory Coast: “ Côte d'Ivoire, Bouaké, Foro-Foro”.

Type material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, Côte d'Ivoire, loc. Foro-Foro, 13.9.71, D. Duviard réc., reserve / Cryptophleps rothii n. sp., G. Couturier det. 1976 / Holotype [red label] (MNHN).

Material examined. 1 ♂, Congo Belge, P.N.G., Miss. H. De Saeger, II/fd/ 17, 3.I. 1952, Réc. H. De Saeger, 2991 (RMCA).

Distribution. Afrotropical: DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Namibia.

Remarks. See Grootaert & Meuffels (1987) who redescribed the male types. The species is newly recorded from DR Congo.
