Peridryocoetes pinguis (Browne, 1983) comb. nov.

Xyleborus pinguis Browne, 1983: 557 .

Remarks. The holotype (NHMUK) and two paratypes (NHMUK, NUFM) have been examined. Unfortunately, the antennae are missing from the holotype, but are visible on one paratype (NUFM) and are devoid of sutures. The species clearly has the habitus of Peridryocoetes Wood, 1984, a small genus with six previously described species, distributed from Southeast Asia to Australia. It is characterized by its very stout form, coarsely asperate pronotum with the summit in the basal quarter, and strongly convex, very steep elytral declivity with the apex sometimes undercut.

Distribution. Solomon Is. (Imported to Japan).
