Lycomorphon (Spinolycus) brasiliense sp. n.

Holotype, male, BRAZIL: Ribeirão Preto-SP, Mata Sta. Tereza. 01.xii.2006. [Nascimento E.A., Polegatto C.M. col.]. (MZSP). Paratype, same data, 06.i.2006. (DZUP).

Diagnosis. Elytra with 3 longitudinal costae, dark brown with humeral region yellow. Median pronotal width 1.3 times wider than pronotal length. Phallus conical apically, with distal half considerably curved dorsally, paramerae slightly shorter than third of phallus length. Phallobase as wide as paramerae.

Description. Interocular distance 1.4 times longer than eye diameter. Antennomere 3 slightly longer than 4, antennomere 5 as long as 4 (Fig. 17). Mandibles reduced, maxillary and labial palpi elongate, pointed, maxillary palpi tips slightly truncate, labrum straight. Pronotum trapezoidal, 1.3 times wider medially than pronotal length, dark brown with lateral margins yellow, median longitudinal carina simple in anterior half, forming longitudinal groove posteriorly (Fig. 3). Elytra elongate, dark brown with yellow humeri. Each elytron with 3 costae, costa 3 entirely absent, costa 1 shortened, missing apically, reticulate cells largely rectangular, regular. Abdominal sternum 8 rounded, provided with three emarginations distally, median emargination depth half of sternal length, secondary emarginations weak. Sternum 9 elongate, rounded proximally and distally. Phallus with distal half curved dorsally, teary orifice in distal two thirds. Paramerae slightly shorter than third of phallus length, rounded apically in lateral view (Figs. 44–46). Body length: 5.9 mm, humeral width: 1.5 mm.

Etymology: the name refers to the species occurrence site.

Distribution: Brazil, Southeast region, São Paulo state.

Comments: Regarding the two examined specimens, the spines were only found in distal half of phallus of one individual. Therefore, these spines are supposed to be easily broken, but are an important differential character. The holotype will be deposited in MZSP and the paratype will be deposited in DZUP.
