Type locality. French Guiana, Cayenne, Saint Laurent [du] Maroni.

Type specimens. Described based on 1 ♁ and undisclosed number of ♀ (NHMUK; the ♁ syntype labeled TYPE).

Taxonomic references. Hampson (1905; 1920), Rothschild (1910), Watson & Goodger (1986) and Vincent & Laguerre (2014).

Material examined. Brazil, Maranhão: Açailândia, 4°57'14.17"S / 47°30'11.08"W. Light traps, 19–27.xi.1990, V.O. Becker legit, 6 specimens (VOB) .
