Genus Neotanais Beddard, 1886

Synonymy: Alaotanais Norman & Stebbing, 1886

Diagnosis (modified after Larsen 2005): female. Pleotelson pentagonal to heptagonal, not acornshaped. Antennula with seven articles. Pereopod attachment on lateral surface of the body. Pleopods biramous and with plumose setae, endopod often biarticulated. Pereopods all of the “walking” type. Pereopods 1 to 3 are more similar to each other and pereopods 4 to 6 are also more similar to each other.
