Dolichogenidea medicava Liu & Chen, sp. nov.
(Figs 41, 68)
Description. Holotype. Female. Body length 2.0 mm, fore wing length 2.4 mm.
Head. Weakly transverse in dorsal view, 1.9× as wide as long, 0.9× as wide as mesoscutum (Fig. 41c). Temple a little shiny with shallow punctures, not constricted behind eyes from dorsal view. Face (Fig. 41f) transverse, 0.8× as high as wide, shiny, with small punctures, inner margins of eyes parallel-sided. Posterior tangent to anterior ocellus virtually touching posterior pair of ocelli, distance between fore and a hind ocellus almost as long as diameter of an hind ocellus, POL:OD:OOL = 2.5:1.8:4.0. Antenna almost as long as body length, penultimate antennomere 1.7× longer than wide.
Mesosoma. Length:width:height = 35.0:23.0:24.0. Disc of mesonotum (Fig. 41d) dull, with deep, dense punctures. Scutellar sulcus straight and narrow with relatively sparse carinae inbetween. Scutellum dull, rough with several punctures. Propodeum (Fig. 41e) shiny, with well-defined areolation which open at at anterior end and V-shaped at bottom, three posterior fields highly shiny and polished, anterio-lateral parts shiny, with indistinct punctuation. Mesopleuron highly polished, anterior part with sharp, sparse punctures.
Legs. Hind coxa shiny and shallowly punctate. Spines on outer side of hind tibia sparse. Inner spur half length of hind basitarsus, outer spur 1/3. Basitarsus of hind leg distinctly shorter than tarsomeres 2–4 (13.0:15.0).
Wings. Pterostigma 3.2× as long as its widest part (Fig. 41b). Vein 1-R1 1.3× longer than pterostigma, 6.0× as long as its distance from apex of marginal cell. Vein r arising from middle of pterostigma, r almost perpendicular to pterostigma, weakly longer than width of pterostigma, as long as 2-SR, distinctly angled at meeting, 2-M 1/3 length of 2-SR and as long as 1-SR and 2-SR+M, m-cu slightly longer than r. First discal cell of fore wing weakly wider than high (16.0:15.0). Second discal cell of hind wing 2.0× wider than high. Vein cu-a curved.
Metasoma. As long as mesosoma. T1 (Fig. 41h) parallel-sided, slightly constricted posteriorly, 1.4× longer than hind width, basal 1/3 concave, nearly polished, turned-over part weakly transverse, strongly punctate-rugose, with a median trough on apical third. T2 rather weakly rugulose, 3.3× wider than long in middle, weakly curved apically. T3 1.3× longer than T2, with some superficial punctures, pubescent. Tergites posterior to T3 shiny, polished and pubescent. Hypopygium not longer than apex of metasoma. Ovipositor sheath nearly 0.9× as long as length of hind tibia, parallel-sided. Ovipositor curved apically, taped towards apex.
Colour. Black (Fig. 41a). Tegula dark brown. Palpi and spurs whitish. Antenna and ovipositor sheath dark brown. Labrum and mandible dark brown, except apices of mandible reddish yellow. Legs dark brown to black, except 3/4 of fore femur, fore tibia, fore tarsus, apex of middle femur, basal half of mid tibia, mid tarsus and basal third of hind tibia bright yellow. Wing membrane hyaline, 1-R1, C+SC+R, and upper border of pterostigma brown, remaining border of pterostigma, r, 2-SR and 2-M light yellowish brown, other alar veins almost colourless, pterostigma whitish with dark border.
Variation. Body length 1.9–2.0 mm, fore wing length 2.3–2.4 mm.
Male. Unknown.
Host. Unknown.
Material examined (ZJUH). Holotype: ♀, Mt. Wuyi, Fujian, 2007.VIII.22–25, Xie Cuihong, No. 200807160 . Paratype: 1 ♀, Mt. Wuyi, Fujian, 2007.VIII.22–25, Zeng Jie, No. 200806243 .
Distribution. Oriental [China: Fujian].
Etymology. The specific name “ medicava ” derived from the Latin “medius” and “cavus”, referring to T1 with a distinct median trough.
Remarks. This species is similar to D. maro Nixon, but differs in the following: spiracle on propodeum separated from junction of costula and lateral propodeal keel by twice of its longer diameter (the latter by 1.0×); turned-over part of T1 weakly transverse (the latter slightly longer than wide); and edge of vannal lobe beyond its widest part convex (the latter almost straight).
