Distribution: Eastern Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia).

Habitat: Common in coastal forest of southern Kenya and Tanzania.

Remarks. Several individuals were obtained by FRONTIER in January/ February 1991. Orthoptera collected during this project are stored in the spirit collection of the zoological museum Copenhagen. C. muta was also caught in the Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve, Kisarawe District of coastal Tanzania near Dar es Salaam.
