Type species. Dolistenus savii Fanzago, 1874, by monotypy.

Diagnosis (after Minelli 1976 and Mauriès 2015). Body very elongated dorsally, covered with dense setae. Head pear-shaped, almost hypognathous, slightly to clearly longer than wide. Head not hidden dorsally by the collum nor laterally by paranota of 2nd ring. Antennae moderately clavated, densely covered by micropores. Prozonites glabrous, with 2 to 5 rows of scale-like flat tubercles, forming circular striae and, closer to the metazonite, irregular rows of papillae. Paranota well defined, ozopores opening posterolaterally, not elevated on porosteles. Paranota from 5th ring not bilobed. Metazonites with ( D. savii, D. garciaparisi sp. nov.) or without ( D. humicolus, D. iberoalbus) transverse furrows. Telson (preanal ring) broadly rounded in dorsal view, almost as wide as long.
