Scaphisoma distinctum Löbl, Ogawa, 2016 is a junior homonym of Scaphisoma distinctum Blatchley, 1910, an invalid subjective synonym of Baeocera apicalis LeConte, 1860. The junior homonym is here replaced by Scaphisoma distinctoides nom. nov.
