Myrmeleon angusticollis Rambur, 1842: 399 . Type locality: United States (eastern, locality unknown), not India (Mumbai [Bombay)].

World distribution: United States [not India] (Burmeister 1839: 995; Oswald 2024a).

Note: All known Indian occurrence citations (e.g., Rambur 1842: 399; Walker 1853: 363; Ghosh & Sen 1977: 311; Ghosh 1983a: 84; Chandra et al. 2011: 158) appear to trace back to the incorrect original type locality statement of “ Bombay ” for Myrmeleon angusticollis Rambur, 1842 . The true type locality of angusticollis is now believed to be somewhere in the eastern United States, where native specimens conspecific with its holotype have been confirmed (Stange 1970: 101).
