Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Gulf of Mexico), Cuba, and Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Espírito Santo, São Paulo) (Barreto et al. 1993; Melo 1996; Bertini et al. 2004; Felder et al. 2009).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba (Bertini et al. 2004, 2010). Specimens are found in waters from 20 to 70m (Melo 1996) being rare in sampling.
