Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♂, CCDB 5091, Ilhabela, Ilha dos Búzios, coll. F. Zara, 10.iv.2013 .

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Florida, Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Rio Grande do Norte to Bahia, São Paulo) (Melo 1996; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Camargo et al. 2010).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba (Camargo et al. 2010), Ilha Vitória (Alves et al. 2012a), and Ilhabela, Ilha dos Búzios (Assugeni et al. 2017), officially specifying the collecting point here. This species was recorded in Brazil as Mithrax sculptus (see Coelho et al. 2008 for references).
