Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♀, CCDB 5041, Ubatuba, Ilha das Couves, colls. F. Mantelatto et al., 19.x.2012 ; 1 ♀ ov, CCDB 4626, Ilhabela, Ilha dos Búzios, coll. F. Zara, 10.iv.2013 .

Distribution. WesternAtlantic—USA (Florida),Antilles, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Ceará, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, São Paulo) (Melo 1996; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Pachelle et al. 2016).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ilha Vitória (Alves et al. 2012a). Assugeni et al. (2017) carried out the spermatozoa ultrastructure with samples from Ilha das Couves (Ubatuba) and Laje de Santos (Santos), without specifying the collecting point in both municipalities, which is officially made herein. This species was recorded in Brazil as Mithrax coronatus and Mithrax coryphe (see Coelho et al. 2008 for references).
