Current valid name: Leontopithecus chrysomelas (Kuhl, 1820)

Syntype: ZMB 306, skull, skin; Rio Pardo, Brazil; collected by Prinz Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied, between 1815 and 1817 .

Comment: Further syntypes are located in the American Museum of Natural History New York (AMNH Mammals MS-252) and in the Naturalis Biodiversity Center Leiden (RMNH.MAM.17691).
