Type material. Holotype (♀, MNHN, not examined) Madagascar, M. Barmes.
Material examined: Madagascar. Analalava, 17°41'35.5"S, 49°27'37"E, 75m, M. Irwin, R. Harin'Hala Malaise traps (9♀, 7♂, CAS, from samples spanning all months except August, September and October); Moramanga district, approx 15km N Andasibe, disturbed roadside near cattle dung, 25.x.2014, S.A. Marshall (1♂, DEBU, Fig. 1).
Comments. Hennig (1935) and Steyskal (1980) record H. triannulata from Tanzania based on Speiser's (1910) identification of this species from a 1905–06 Swedish zoological expedition to Kilimanjaro, but it is not clear if either author re–examined the specimens on which Speiser based this record. I have seen no continental African specimens of this species. Verbeke (1956) records the species from a number of Madagascar localities but makes no mention of records from continental Africa. This seems to be the most widespread of the Madagascar Micropezidae .
