This species was synonymised with G. pallescens by Hölzel (1982), but is reinstated here as a valid taxon.

Diagnosis

Characterized by its small size and mainly bright yellow coloration, with dorsal surface of abdomen generally brown. Wings hyaline with yellow veins (Fig. 13). Hind femora of male extending almost to posterior margin of third abdominal tergite. It can be distinguished from G. pallescens by the smaller size and yellow coloration of the body.

Redescription

Size (mm). Forewing: 3 25–26, Ƥ 24–25; hind wing: 3 22–23, Ƥ 20–21; length of body: 3 24–25, Ƥ; length of abdomen: 3 18–20, Ƥ 21.

Head. Entirely yellow. Scape and pedicel with stout black setae on anterior surface. Terminal segment of the labial palps enlarged at base and pointed at apex.

Thorax. Yellow with erect white setae on pronotum, mesonotum and pleurites.

Legs. Yellow with erect white and black setae. Femoral brush of male with 20 setae. Tibiae with brown dots. Spurs in fore- and middle legs longer than T1+2, in hind legs shorter than T1+2.

Wings. Narrow. Hyaline without markings. Veins yellow. Stigma yellow. In forewings 5–6 cross veins between R and MP before origin of RS; RS arising beyond CuA fork.

Abdomen. Yellow with tergites brown dorsally with brown punctations and with small erect black spinelike setae. The type specimen is paler than other specimens examined, the abdomen is of the same coloration as other parts of the body. Male ectoprocts not projected backwards (Fig. 14). Parameres short, evenly curved (Figs 15 & 16).
