Distribution: India: Arunachal Pradesh. Elsewhere: Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (Bali, Borneo, Java, Sulawesi, Sumatra), Philippines, China.

Diagnosis: Forewing length ♂ 19 mm

S. nigribasalis tropica generally has a more whitish ground colour of forewing than the nominotypical ssp. nigribasalis Wileman, 1910 . In male genitalia, the presence of long and acute rectangular shaped uncus and a central sclerotized projection in the 8 th sternite are typical to S. nigribasalis . S. n. tropica differs from S. n. nigribasalis in having broader saccus, quadrate shaped central projection of 8 th sternite and longer, more distally curved phallus.
