Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (South Carolina), Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Barbados, Isla de Margarita, Isla de Cubagua, Tortuga, Curaçao, and Brazil (Rathbun 1897; Williams 1984; Poupin 2018).

Material examined. Barbados, Jordans, St. James, nearshore rubble, 13°14’48.24”N, 59°38’40.90”W, 2 Ô, 1 ♀ CW: 18.7, 16.5, 10.5 mm (BLSZ 155) . Drill Hall, St. Michael, nearshore rubble, 13°04’36.30”N, 59°36’26.63”W, 1 Ô, 1 ♀ CW: 8.1, 12.2 mm (BLSZ 174) . Idem, 1 Ô CW: 10.5 mm (MZUSP 40877) . Idem, Ô CW: 17.9 mm (BLSZ 272) .

Remarks. Specimens of Eurypanopeus abbreviates were collected on the west and south coasts of Barbados by hand in nearshore rubble habitat at low tide under rubble rock. It was first reported from Barbados as Panopeus abbreviatus by Stimpson (1860: 211), and by A. Milne-Edwards (1880: 320; pl. 59, fig. 3) as Eurypanopeus abbreviatus . The Barbados-Antigua Expedition in 1918 did not report any specimens of Eurypanopeus abbreviatus from Barbados.
