Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (Florida), Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Barbados, Isla de Margarita, Isla de Cubagua, and Brazil (Rathbun 1897, 1933; Poupin 2018).
Material examined. Barbados, Batts Rock, St. Michael, subtidal, 13°08’04.81”N, 59°38’12.30”W, 3 Ô CW : 8.7, 9.8, 7.4 mm (BLSZ 045). Reeds Bay, St. James, subtidal, 13°13’09.10”N, 59°38’32.44”W, 1 Ô CW: 10.0 mm (MZUSP 40897) .
Remarks. Specimens of Chorinus heros were caught in crab traps that were placed on rocky bottoms (~ 4 m deep) on the west coast of Barbados. Chorinus heros was first reported for Barbados by Schomburgk (1848: 655). This was followed by the report by A. Milne-Edwards (1873: 86) of Chorinus heros for Barbados. Rathbun (1921: 81) reported one immature female specimen collected at Pelican Island by the Barbados-Antigua Expedition in 1918 (USNM 72988). Additionally, Rathbun (1925: 306–307) reported one male specimen of Chorinus heros as collected from Barbados by N.T. Gill; this specimen is stored at the Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ 1268).
