Anaulacaspis medvedevi (KASHCHEEV, 1982)

Falagria medvedevi KASHCHEEV, 1982: 538 f.

Comment: This name was made available in an article containing descriptions of Staphylinidae species of Kyzylkum desert in Kazakhstan (KASHCEEV 1982). According to the original description, which is based on several specimens from one locality, which does not specify any characters allowing a reliable interpretation, and whose illustrations of the aedeagus are too schematic to be of any use, A. medvedevi resembles A. lutzi (i.e., A. gratilla) in habitus and coloration. A loan request addressed to the Zoological Institute in Almaty, where the type material is deposited, remained unanswered.

It appears rather unlikely that A. medvedevi should represent a species not treated in the present revision. In fact, the sketch of the median lobe of the aedeagus, in particular the shape of the apical membranous protrusion of the internal sac, would suggest that A. medvedevi is conspecific with A. gratilla . Until the type material can be accessed, however, the identity of A. medvedevi must remain doubtful.
