Type-species: Zorotypus gurneyi Choe, 1989 (by original designation).

Distribution. Nearctic: United States of America. Neotropical: Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Diagnosis. Posteroventral surface of metafemur with 6‒10 spiniform setae, evenly spaced; males with a coiled aedeagus and an enlarged basal plate, which is posteriorly bifurcated and anteriorly spatulate, with an anterior tongue-like process, which has converging edges and is not dilated anteriorly.
