Type material. Holotype Male: Argentina, Río Negro, PN Nahuel Huapi, C ° Challhuaco, Mallín Los Patos, 41º 15’ 48.6’’S, 71º 17’ 50.3’’W, 20.xii.2006, Malaise trap, leg. A. Garré- F. Montes de Oca (MLP).
Etymology: referring to the truncated end of virga.

Male (n = 1) Total length 3.34 mm. Wing length 1.9 mm. Total length/wing length 1.76. Wing length/length of profemur 2.16. Coloration blackish brown.
Head.Antennae lost. Temporal setae 11, divided in 5 inner verticals, 3 outer verticals and 3 postoculars. Clypeus with 17 setae. Tentorium 180 long, 34 wide. Stipes 180 long, 54 wide. Palp segment lengths: 44; 84; 222; 172; 212. Third palpomere without finger-like apical extension, without sensilla clavata.
Thorax. Antepronotum with 5 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 23; acrostichals starting some distance from antepronotum, 9; supralars 0; prealars 20. Scutellum with 35 setae in three rows.
Wing (Fig. 3B). Microtrichia visible at 100x magnification. VR 1.6. C extension 62. Brachiolum with 6 seta; R with 29; R 1 with 20; R 4+5 with 29; M with 3. Squama with 23 setae. Anal lobe well developed.
Legs. Spur of front tibia 64 long; spurs of middle tibia 34 and 36 long; of hind tibia: 36 and 80 long. Width at apex of front tibia 50; of middle tibia 50; of hind tibia 60. Comb with 10 setae. Pseudospurs absent. Lengths and proportions of legs in Table 2.
Hypopygium (Figs. 4C–D).Anal point bluntly isosceles triangle-shaped, slender, pointed at the end, and hyaline, 52 long. Tergum IX with 22 setae, laterosternite IX with 8 setae. Phallapodeme 44 long; transverse sternapodeme 114 long. Virga with truncated end, 36 long. Gonocoxite 228 long, inferior volsella rounded; ending at 90 from apex of gonocoxite; ratio “inferior volsella ending from apex of gonocoxite/length of gonocoxite” 0.39. Gonostylus 112 long; crista dorsalis well developed; megaseta 10 long. HR 2.04; HV 2.98.
