Ellampus sogdianus Semenov, 1932

(Plate 16A–D)

Ellampus (Philoctetes) sogdianus Semenov-Tian-Shanskij 1932: 19.

Type locality: “Turkestan occid.: prov. Maracandica: vallis fl. Zeravshan (A. Fedtschenko! 11–24.V.1869). Solum specimen (1 ♂) (Mus. Zool. Univers. Mosqu.)”.

Holotype, ♂: 18. <printed on pink label> // Заравш. дол [Zarafsh. Valley] <printed> // “ Omalus auratus” Rad. <handwritten by Semenov-Tian-Shanskij> // sogdianus typ. un. ♂ [typus unicus] m. [mihi] XI.18 <handwritten by Semenov-Tian-Shanskij>.

Remarks. The specimen was collected on the 18th of May 1869 and not on the 24th of May 1869 as written in the original description. The type is badly damaged: the head is glued on a label, the forelegs and the left wings are missing. In Kimsey & Bohart (1991: 249) the type repository is doubtfully ZIN, but no specimen of E. sogdianus is housed in ZIN.

Current status. Omalus sogdianus (Semenov, 1932) (transferred to Omalus Panzer by Kimsey & Bohart 1991: 249).
