Maxantonia mimica sp. n.

Type locality. Tambopata Research Center (S13º 08'07.1" W69º 37'07.5"), Madre de Dios Department, Peru.
Diagnosis. Head orange, postclypeus inflated, convex in profile with three longitudinal carinae; pronotum orange without a median carina, tegmina with basal ¼ orange, distal ¾ black with central longitudinal orange stripe, legs with tibiae and tarsi black.
Description. Head (Figs 36–37): orange, rostrum with second and third segments black; compound eyes black and rounded, arranged transversely; vertex smooth, rectangular, lacking median carina; ocelli closer to each other than to compound eyes; tylus rectangular, smooth, lacking median carina. Antennae black, pedicel sparsely setose, subcylindrical basal body of flagellum with arista longer than pedicel; postclypeus orange, inflated, with convex profile, three longitudinal carinae, lateral grooves strongly marked; rostrum extending to mesocoxae. Thorax (Figs 36–37): orange; pronotum orange, hexagonal, lacking median carina, anterior margin straight, lateral-anterior margins straight, lateral posterior margin slightly sinuous, posterior margin grooved; scutellum orange, with slight central concavity, lacking horizontal grooves; tegmina basal ¼ orange, distal ¾ black with central longitudinal orange stripe not reaching distal wing margin; hindwings hyaline with reddish brown venation, Cu1 not thickened at base; all legs with tibiae and tarsi black; metathoracic tibia with two lateral spines (basal spine smaller than those located in apical crown, apical spine larger); apical crown with two rows of spines; basitarsus with two rows of spines covered by sparse setae; subungueal process present and rectangular. Abdomen: black. Genitalia: Male: Pygofer (Fig. 35) with two processes between the subgenital plates and anal tube, upper process rounded and lower process digitiform; subgenital plates (Fig. 35) long with digitiform apex and one rounded process on dorsal margin; parameres (Fig. 34) each with small subapical spine directed dorsally; aedeagus (Fig. 31–32) cylindrical with three apical dorsal processes, two of which are fin-like and the other is triangular, one ventral hood-like process. Female (Fig. 33): First valvula of ovipositor long and slender with acute apex and basal process developed, long, directed posteriorly; second valvulae long, dorsal margin smooth, lacking serrations; third valvulae short and wide, with long setae ventrally.
Measurements (mm). Body length: Ƥ 13.2, 3 10.5–11.3; pronotal length: Ƥ 2.0, 3 1.7–2.0; forewing length: Ƥ 10.5, 3 8.7–10.0; maximum width of head, including eyes: Ƥ 2.5, 3 2.2–2.4; width between humeral angles: Ƥ 3.3, 3 3.1–3.3.
Distribution. PERU: Madre de Dios Department.
Remarks. This species resembles M. fortunata (Lallemand) in general morphology and in the shape of the male aedeagus; however the paramere morphology differs between the two species.
Etymology. The species name “ mimica ” refers to the resemblance in coloration of this species to that of Laccogrypota valida (Distant), L. praelata (Jacobi), and L. grandis (Distant) .
