32. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) langkawiense Takaoka, Sofian-Azirun & Ya’cob, 2012

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) langkawiense Takaoka et al., 2013b: 702 –708 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Langkawi Island (Takaoka et al., 2013b). It is similar to S. gombakense but is distinguished from the latter species in the female by the claw tooth (0.46 times the length of the claw), in the male by the upper-eye large facets in 11 or 12 vertical columns and 12 or 13 horizontal rows on each side, in the pupa by the width of the middle inflated portion (0.24 times the length of the inflated structure), and in the larva by the posterior circlet with 96–100 rows of hooklts.

The pupae and larvae were collected from small streams in Langkawi Island.
