Simulium (Gomphostilbia) whartoni Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 32 –37 (Female, male, pupa and larva).
This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Fraser’s Hill, Pahang (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). It is characterized in the pupa by one of the ventral filaments over 2.5 times the length of the other seven filaments, and two triplets and the ventral paired filaments arranged in the horizontal plane.
The aquatic stages of this species breed in small streams in low to high elevations (159–1,813 m) in various provinces of Peninsular Malaysia ( Ya’cob et al., 2016a, b).
This species was also recorded from Indonesia (Sumatra) (Takaoka et al., 2000).
